This is a vinyl LP pressing of First Flight to Tokyo: The Lost 1961 Recordings, a previously unreleased live recording of Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers. Captured on January 14, 1961, during the band's first-ever tour of Japan, this classic lineup features jazz legends like trumpeter Lee Morgan, tenor saxophonist Wayne Shorter, pianist Bobby Timmons, and bassist Jymie Merritt. The audio has been newly transferred from the original 1/4" tape reels, bringing a lost piece of jazz history to life.
