Janis Joplin's raw, bluesy, and soulful delivery launched a powerful yet brief singing career. Originally from Texas, she rose to fame in late '60s psychedelic San Francisco. Despite the city's supportive music scene, its drug culture led to her early demise. Her 1967 studio debut with Big Brother and The Holding Company showcased her scorching vocals on tracks like "Bye Bye Baby" and "Down On Me." This album is a must for exploring Joplin's legacy and includes the songs "Coo Coo" and "The Last Time," originally released as 45 RPM singles.
