This is a 2023 reissue vinyl LP pressing of Ole Coltrane by John Coltrane. The American jazz composer and saxophonist originally released his album in November 1961, via Atlantic Records. Produced by Nesuhi Ertegun, the album was recorded by Coltrane under his supervision and features several of the players from Africa/Brass, which was recorded two days earlier, and is widely considered one of the premiere statements of Avant Garde jazz as well as the moment that Coltrane moved from an accessible artist to a more daring and complicated one. Coltrane is among the most influential and acclaimed figures in the history of jazz and 20th-century music. Decades after his death, Coltrane remains influential, and he has received numerous posthumous awards, including a special Pulitzer Prize, and was canonized by the African Orthodox Church.
