Ibanez originally introduced the BTB705 in 1999, a five-string solid-body electric bass from the BTB series. Produced in Japan by FujiGen, it is part of the Standard line.
The BTB705 features a flamed maple top on an ash/okoume wing body bolted to a maple neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with abalone dot position markers. The body has a double cutaway design with very distinctive, narrow, curving horns. Components include a pair of T1 passive pickups with an Ibanez Custom Electronics 3-band EQ, medium frets, MR5S bridges with 19mm string spacing.
