Another collaboration between DiMarzio and John Petrucci of Dream Theater, the Liquifire 7 translates the sound John likes in the neck position of his 6-string to the 7-string, with fat highs and clean lows for smooth solos and tight bass lines. It isn't just a replica of the 6-string version with an extra pole piece. It has a more focussed attack and the voicing has been tweaked downwards to bring out the sound of the low B. It has a flowing, singing tone when soloing with a heavily driven amp and a clear chord sound when playing clean. Ideal in the neck position of your 7-string, it also works very well at the bridge.
