Paul Gilbert has been associated with DiMarzio pickups since the 80's. His signature Injector Neck Model is one of DiMarzio's hottest hum-cancelling pickups. The DP422 sound is different from a regular or vintage single-coil. It is warmer and louder and tracks high-speed solos at high gain without becoming either thin or muddy, and has a very full, well-balanced, clean sound. It has almost half magnet-pull than standard single-coils, and it responds to pick attack with speed and excellent dynamic range.
