About This Product

This is a vinyl LP pressing of Altar, the second album from the grungey alt-rock band NewDad, fronted by the enigmatic songwriter and vocalist Julie Dawson of Galway, Ireland. Influenced by legendary acts like The Cure and R.E.M., andcontemporary groups such as Big Thief, NewDad confronts the horrors of the modern world in their music. Dawson's writing, which regularly evokes imagery of water and religion to reflect on the band's West Coast Irish upbringing, finds beauty in her pain and resonates with a unique generational despair. Altar is a future classic that seamlessly jolts between anger-fueled anthemics and darkly intimate, melancholic introspection, following the acclaim of their debut, Madra, which earned the admiration of none other than Robert Smith of The Cure.
