This is a mono reissue vinyl LP pressing of Saxophone Colossus by Sonny Rollins. Part of the Jean-Pierre Leloir 180 gram vinyl Collection, this album, recorded on June 22, 1956, features Rollins leading an all-star quartet with pianist Tommy Flanagan, bassist Doug Watkins, and drummer Max Roach. Saxophone Colossus received critical acclaim upon release, solidifying Rollins' status as a leading jazz artist. The album earned five stars in All Music Guide, with Scott Yanow stating that "Sonny Rollins recorded many memorable sessions during 1954-1958, but Saxophone Colossus is arguably his finest all-around set."
