The American Custom Timpani Mallets from Vic Firth reflect Vic's fifty years of experience as Solo Timpanist, and have been designed with Tim Genis, Principal Timpanist of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Each mallet is turned from a single piece of rock maple, eliminating a core that could rattle and the need for a screw-on washer to secure the head. Coupled with round seamless heads, they produce bigger and brighter sounds. This versatile line of timpani mallets are tonal in character and create different colours and qualities of articulation, with persimmon shafts to provide a darker sound. The balance and weight of each model make articulation effortless. The GEN5 Tonal, is an excellent all-purpose mallet with a wood core.
