About This Product

This is a 2023 reissue vinyl LP pressing of Something Else!!!! by Ornette Coleman. The American jazz composer and saxophonist originally released his debut album in September 1958, via Contemporary Records. Produced by Lester Koenig, the album features a conventional bebop quintet instrumentation (saxophone, cornet, piano, bass and drums); after this album, Coleman would omit the piano, creating a starker and more fluid sound.

Coleman was best known as a principal founder of the free jazz genre, a term derived from his 1960 album Free Jazz: A Collective Improvisation. In 2006, Coleman received the Pulitzer Prize for Music, making Coleman the second jazz musician ever to receive the honour.
