This is a vinyl LP pressing of Moanin' (2021 EU Reissue) by Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers. The jazz super-group originally released their studio album on October 30, 1958, via Blue Note Records. Produced by Alfred Lion, the album was recorded at Van Gelder Studio in Hackensack, New Jersey. The album stands as one of the archetypal hard bop albums of the era, for the intensity of Blakey's drumming and the work of Morgan, Golson, and Timmons, and for its combination of old-fashioned gospel and blues influences with a sophisticated modern jazz sensibility.
