About this product
In Gibson's plant in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the earliest Gibson PAF (“Patent Applied For”) humbuckers were wound on machines that gave imprecise and inconsistent results, meaning the pickups came with varying degrees of output and tone. First introduced in the 1990's, The BurstBucker line sought to recapture the magic of those original “Patent Applied For” humbuckers. Gibson BurstBucker's come in three models, Types 1, 2, and 3 and the range successfully captures the subtle variations of true, classic humbucker tone with historically “unmatched” bobbin windings and Alnico II magnets. They produce an airy, full tone, and when overdriven they distort with the slightly enhanced highs that made the originals famous. Burstbucker Type 2 is a medium output model suitable for both neck and bridge positions.
