A recipient of the National Arts Council Bursary (Overseas), Sok Wah graduated from Sydney Conservatorium of Music, University of Sydney in 2002 with a Bachelor of Music Studies. She studied under Richard Miller, Timpanist of Sydney Symphony Orchestra and Daryl Pratt (Head of Department), a well-known jazz vibraphonist to receive an all-rounded education in classical and contemporary percussion. On top of that, she received valuable coaching form visiting artists like Neil Grover (Boston Pop, Boston Symphony), Arthur Lipner (U.S. Jazz Vibraphonists) and Leigh Howard Stevens (International Marimba Artist). Her early mentors and people who have given her invaluable music exposure include prominent percussionists of Singapore, Mr Ngoh Kheng Seng (SCO), Mr Lim Meng Keh (SSO), Mr Markiewicz Grzegorz (SSO), Mr Quek Ling Kiong (SCO) and Mr Tama Goh. |
